Sri Math is situated on Sri Adichunchanagiri Hills, Nagamangala Taluk of Mandya District, Karnataka State. It is located at 63 miles West of Bangalore on National Highway 48. The Sri Math’s objective envisages the spreading of essence of spiritualism to establish universal brotherhood and global peace.
In the holy lineage of ‘Guruparampara’, His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Balagangadharanatha Maha Swamiji who took charge as the 71st Spiritual Head of the Sri Math in 1974, at the age of 30. From that day onwards, Sri Math began its upward journey with rapid strides.
His Holiness always focused on the basic necessities like Anna, Akshara and Arogya, i.e., Food, Education and Health. Sri Math is feeding free food for more than twenty thousand people a day. It is because devotees are fed incessantly, Sri Math is also called ‘Annadani Math’.He contributed for the progress, peace, happiness and harmony of the mankind.
Education is one of the important factors in the development of individual and nation. It is viewed as an agent of social, economic and political development. On account of its developmental role, people always look up to education for answers to several problems of development.
Realizing the need, His Holiness initiated Sri Adichunchanagiri Shikshana Trust ®, which was established in the year 1974, with the main motto of imparting knowledge. After three decades of its establishment, our Trust succeeded in running more than four hundred thirty educational institutions across the country. With Swamiji’ grace, today more than seventy five thousand students are getting education (Basic education to Professional education with Research activities).
Several State Schools are established in economically backward areas, to enable under privileged mass to get the education, both in Kannada medium and English medium. This made the people to elevate themselves from the clutches of ignorance and poverty. Central and International Schools are opened to keep Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) in touch with cultural heritage of India, with all International standards facilities.
To join the main stream of the nation building process, and to prevent brain-drain in technical education, His Holiness started Engineering Colleges with Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Research Centers. Several Polytechnics and Industrial Training Institutes are established.
